2005 Domaine Weinbach Gewurztraminer Cuvée Laurence (France, Alsace) 9/7/2013CWang91

Very candied nose with lots of lychees, mangoes, and peaches; the palate, very creamy, fleshy and fruity, with baskets of ripe tropical fruits plus some licorice and minerals; the finish, longer with more aeration in the glass; missing some complexity and structure though; nevertheless, still very enjoyable as a dessert wine; overall, 91-92 points. 2000 Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Wintzenheim (France, Alsace) 3/8/2003Eric88

Opened this up with Steve Bush to have with some Indian food.

This is probably the first white I have ever tasted that needed a lot of air time. From the bottle there were ambrosial scents of peach, honey and spice. On the palate this had lots of acidity, an oily texture, and a distinct petrol note on the finish, also a first for me. It stood up very well with the curry, although the petrol notes on the finish were tough. This was not a good match with the tamarind sauce. Tonight I would rate this 88 points, although I'm expecting this to move up a few clicks when I try the remainder in a day or two (resting in the fridge sans gas).
DAY 2: The finish is less sharp than the day before. Was that petrol I noted or sulphur? No matter, this seems somewhat more settled but also simpler and less enjoyable on day 2. Hmm. Dropped off to 86 perhaps. (13906 views)

2009 Albert Mann Gewurztraminer Furstentum Vieilles Vignes (France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru) 9/13/2014Keith Levenberg95

This is just brimming with luscious tropical fruit yumminess. I think the reason gewurztraminer gets no respect is that it just tastes too damn good. You don't have to think about it and you don't have to wait 10 or 20 years. Just pour a glass and you want to stick an umbrella in it and hold a luau. That's especially true with this one which is about as rich and exotic as you can get. The Steingrubler here may be a shade more restrained and proper. This one is just slutty good. Some of those tropical flavors become more pear-like as it develops in the glass. There is a lot going on here, not just the luau. (9602 views)

2012 Darting Dürkheimer Nonnengarten Gewürztraminer Kabinett (Germany, Pfalz) 4/4/2014Loren Sonkin86

Helping a friend with a north-east Italian Wine List; 4/3/2014-4/10/2014 (TBD): Lychees on the nose. This is very sweet and slightly flabby. I don't drink many gewurtz designated like this, but sure seems riper and sweeter than I expect a Kabinett to drink. Doesn't seem food friendly to me. (9144 views)

Pre-Auction Wine Tasting w/ ZHs and Colgins (NYC): Big, massive wine. Full of spicy, nutty fruit. Wonderfully long finish, but not as spectacular as the 94 Clos Windsbuhl. (9117 views)

2010 Fetzer Gewürztraminer (USA, California) 12/7/2011SonomaWilliam86

Decent gewurtz for mass produced $8 bottle, although the tiny bit of RS isnt for me. (its not bad though.) paired well with Indian food. Decent nose, modestly floral, seems slightly effervescent at first. Basic in mouth, peach, melon. (9014 views)

2010 Fetzer Gewürztraminer (USA, California) 11/24/2011Grumbling_Goat86

Pleasant surprise. Nice, zesty citrus nose. Palate had a distinct bite, almost a fizzy blend with peach. Finish was floral, maybe roses. Excellent value. (8740 views)

1994 Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Herrenweg de Turckheim (France, Alsace) 6/1/2004Lorien

Sweet and appealing aromas, very dry and somewhat bitter flavors. Good balance and structure with a solid finish. Not my cup of tea at all, and due to a lack of experience with such wines, I have decided not to rate it. (8542 views)

2007 Trimbach Gewurztraminer (France, Alsace) 2/24/2013DSP88

Brilliant bright green/gold color. Wonderful aromatics of rose petals and lychee fruit, and those flavors follow on the palate. Soft, broad, and rich in the mouth. A bit simple, with a short finish and could have maybe used a bit more zip, but this was delicious and inviting. I don't have previous experience with this particular wine, so I can't comment on whether it's fading or not, but my bottle seemed fine, in line with other gewurz's I've had. (8471 views)

This had a very nice golden color and with some nice floral aromas. When tasted, I was immediately astonished by the strong sweet tastes of honey and apricots. This was one incredible wine but it's hard to categorize just when this wine should be drunk within a meal. Spicy Thai food is a must! (7920 views)

You can clearly taste pineapple and floral notes in this semi-dry wine. A bit too sweet for me, but it went really well with Asian spicy food. (7699 views)
